Back in My Life
Description:
As a facilitator for the Center for Digital Storytelling, we often give up seats in our workshops to underserved populations. Over the years, I've given storytelling opportunities to many women out of prison - primarily who are working with the Women's Bean Project. Lisa Germany came and made a digital story (short biographical video) about her life with drugs and finding her way back. She and I talked and we decided to submit it together for this contest...both of us giving thanks to the WBProject and what they do for so many women in the community.

Since Yesterday
Description:
Peter was orphaned at birth and lived in an orphanage in Zambia outside of the capitol, Lusaka. He was fostered from the age of 1 to 4 years old and was returned to the orphanage when his foster mother died. He thought he was going to spend his whole life in the orphanage with no opportunity or education. He felt really hopeless and like life was really already over for him. Then he met his adoptive parents who took a trip to Zambia while doing humanitarian work. When they met Peter, they asked him if he would like to come home with them. Peter is one of the lucky ones. There are over 143 million orphans in countries around the world. It is anticipated that by 2013 only about 6,000 children will come into the United States through international adoption and the number of orphans in other countries will continue to rise. This song was written for Peter's mother as a tribute to her for mothers day 2008 in memory of when she came to Zambia to adopt him. Song Lyrics Choru
