Can you inspire the next generation of philanthropists?

THE CHALLENGE

We know that one person has the power to make a difference. What if that one person could inspire hundreds and thousands of others to do the same? Now that's IMPACT.

GoodSpark developed the Get Up & Give Digital Media Challenge to test this theory. We're asking you (individuals, nonprofits, creative community) to leverage your talents and tap your inner muse and create a digital short or photograph that will inspire young professionals to take action - giving of their time or money to make their community and world a better place.

Use whatever inspires you - your favorite cause, a nonprofit in your backyard, the story of one person or the plight of many. The parameters are few, so your creativity can be endless. Please be sure to read the full details about the competition. We're searching for something unique. Truly compelling. From your heart. Above all, create something that has the power to inspire young professionals to Get Up & Give.

THE REASON

Right now, Colorado residents are not motivated to give. Even though Colorado has over 27,000 nonprofits and we rank among the top in average adjusted gross income, we also rank 38th in charitable giving, and local philanthropy continues to decline. We believe that Colorado can do better, that our community deserves better, and that engaging young professionals is key to sparking change.

THE REWARD

We hope you'll find this challenge fun and rewarding. But, here are some additional incentives to encourage you to participate:

  • Dollars donated to the nonprofit of their choice
    Digital Short: 1st Prize - $2,500, 2nd Prize - $1000, 3rd Prize - $500
    Photograph: 1st Prize - $750, 2nd Prize - $250, 3rd Prize - $100
  • Winning digital short will be screened at the 2010 Starz Denver Film Festival
  • Winning photograph will be displayed in a gallery (TBD)
  • Winning shorts will air as PSAs on local networks (TBD)
  • Winners will be featured on GoodSpark's website and other publications

The Event

This challenge will be a part of our annual GoodSpark Get Up & Give Event, which will be held on Thursday, September 9th @ Space Gallery. The annual event is dedicated to motivating young professionals to tap their inner philanthropist and making it easy to do so by providing plenty of engaging opportunities. Attendees will enjoy delightful drinks and delicious appetizers while they cast their vote for the most compelling photo and digital short that has the most spark.
