The Social Group-Buying Flavor of the Month Site – CauseOn
Back in May, we talked about some of the moves Groupon was making on the charity front. It seems an endless amount of companies have recently added cause marketing to their arsenal and CauseOn, the latest addition to to the social group-buying space is doing it right out of the gate. They have adopted a more direct approach than many others. For every coupon that a user purchases, they guarantee that 20 percent of the company’s revenue goes to charity. They are also giving their customers the ability to choose the charity from CauseOn’s cause partners, which the company says it carefully researches before partnering with.
They claim to focus more on quality than quantity, and we’ve sent a request for more information on their vetting process. We are of course hoping for something a little more comprehensive than the much maligned GlobalGiving claims and the nonexistent vetting process (unless you consider possession of 501c3 status as the only valid criteria) found in catalog services like Network For Good.
IF you are a nonprofit, it seems like a service worth looking into and yet another potential way to get the word out about what you are doing. If you are an individual with a passion for a cause or organization, I would suggest submitting your recommendations to their list so that if/when they come to your city and if/when they have a good deal, you can purchase knowing that you are giving back as well.
We’ll keep an eye on this one.
